SCCM 2012 R2 Installation Guide

Download and own part 1 to 18 of the SCCM 2012 R2 Installation Guide in a single PDF file. Use our products page or use the download button below. This blog post won’t be updated, only the document will be.

Performing a SCCM 2012 R2 installation is not a walk in the park. The product itself can be complex for inexperienced administrators. There’s already tons of SCCM 2012 R2 Installation Guide available, written by experienced blogger and MVPs but I think that very few gives the whole picture from the start to the last component. Our goal is to bring it a bit further, explaining concepts and best practice rather than just guide the user through the installation process.

We was hesitant to post this SCCM 2012 R2 Installation Guide because SCCM VNext is coming pretty fast (Release date could be announced at Microsoft Ignite) but I finally decided to release it anyway. We still get consulting contract to install SCCM 2012 R2 so it’s definitely still relevant information.

The SCCM 2012 R2 Installation Guide blog post series will describe everything about the installation process, from the server prerequisites to the various site role installation and configurations.

If you’re not familiar with SCCM 2012 R2 Features, you can visit this Technet article which covers it all.

If you’re familiar with the 2007 version and plans to migrate, read the Technet article about What’s New in SCCM 2012.

I hope this SCCM 2012 R2 Installation Guide brings all the information you need and that you’ll appreciate administering it..

Hi, I am new to SCCM and want to configure it for about 500 users. Each user has Windows10 operating system. Will this installation document serve the purpose? Is it updated? Regards, Adnan

Question regarding updating of SCCM2012 to SP2 and clients. My site is currently set with 'Enable automatic site-wide client push installation' UNCHECKED. We rely on our imaging process to dictate which devices get the SCCM Client. Would the SP1 and/or SP2 update push the latest client build out to existing clients with this setting unchecked? If Yes, is there anyway to prevent that behavior to minimize the potential impact to client devices? I've wondered this question for almost of full year now and am starting research more. However, most tutorials and documentations assume you have Push Installation enabled. Thank you in advance!

Hello I have just purchased this guide, in this guide you fail to mention how to deploy sccm clients which in my view is a vital component in the installation of sccm. Can you let me know if you have a guide for doing this?

Hi Phil, Very good point and it would be a pretty good post to follow... The thing is that we can't recommend a "best" deployment methods as every environment is different and has their own particularities. I strongly suggest to read the Technet documentation which is well made : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/gg712298.aspx

Could I leave a request? I've been using the guides so far and am very impressed. Could System Center Dudes produce a guide using the USMT to refresh computers to W10?

Can you please clarify these T&C’s…..? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Terms & Conditions PERSONAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL USE LIMITATION Unless otherwise specified, the downloaded System Center Dudes products are for your personal and non-commercial use. You may not commercially reproduce, distribute, publish, license, or sell any information obtained from our products. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The term “personal and non-commercial use” – what does this mean? The wording makes it sound like can not be used in an enterprise, this can not be the case surely... 🙂

Wish you had the install notes with HTTPS and not HTTP (Client Computer Communication Settings). HTTPS require a lot of pre configuration on the CA (Certificate Authority) before starting SCCM install. I still haven't found a detailed install notes on the NET on how to configure SCCM from ground up with HTTPS. Yet this is a good install guide for any one interested with SCCM 2012. Look forward to new install notes on SCCM 2016 TP.
